TagYerit's CD Release Party and Benefit Tag Sale

Sept. 25, 1999

Town Common ... Amherst, MA

Sorry, you missed it. We had a blast. Well, it was really hard work, but fun nonetheless and we managed to raise over $1800 for the two animal welfare groups, as well as sell a few TagYerit CDs and raise awareness for not only, these organisations, but for TagYerit as well. You could tell who the workers were, because we had them wearing children's pool tubes (in shapes like lady bugs and beavers.) In case you're wondering, that's because TagYerit's second CD that was being celebrated here is called Tubeman.

The original press release is below.

Tag Sale to Benefit Animal Adoption Groups

Local band TagYerit (tag you’re it) has a different take on the traditional CD release festivities. To celebrate the release of their new CD “Tubeman”, they will be hosting a benefit tag sale on the Amherst Commons on Saturday September 25th. (9 to 5) Proceeds will be donated to The Concerned Citizens for Animals and the House Rabbit Connection - two groups involved in the fostering, spaying and adoption of homeless animals. Besides a huge array of tag sale items, representatives of both groups will be there to provide information concerning their services.

The House Rabbit Connection, Inc (HRC) , is a non profit corporation founded to rescue abandoned pet rabbits. They work in conjunction with local animal shelters to find these rabbits new homes. In addition, they are involved in education and outreach. More information on the HRC is available by calling (413) 525-9222 or by visiting their website: www.tagyerit.com/hopline.htm

The Concerned Citizens For Animals, INC. fosters and finds homes for dogs and cats; provides educational outreach; and also runs a non profit Spay/Neuter program for the financially needy.

Musician-songwriters Rich and Flo Newman formed TagYerit in 1996 with the release of their first CD “Heavy Construction”. Using the internet for promotion, “Heavy Construction” received airplay on six continents and national attention by making Guitar Player Magazine’s editor’s picks list for 1996. Because TagYerit is a studio-only band, running a tag sale to benefit their favorite causes seemed a natural way to celebrate the release of their second CD “Tubeman”. TagYerit’s music has been described as unique, infectious, witty pop/rock.
