Adoption profiles

Here you will find wonderful rabbits, saved by the shelter, and now waiting for adoption at local foster homes. We hope that some of these buns will find a home faster than I can type this info. In that case, you may find a different bunny waiting than described here.

Unfortunately, our foster sites are always full. The shelter can become overwhelmed at any time, and by adopting, you'll be saving a life. If you have ever considered adopting another rabbit, the time is now. No bun should live alone.

The House Rabbit Connection (P.O. Box 83  Springfield, MA 01101-0083) is a nonprofit [501 (c)(3)] organization. All donations are tax deductible.

And of course if you can foster, by all means let us know. Call the HopLine at (413)525-9222 (email links are at bottom of page).

Often, some of the rabbits shown here HAVE been adopted. If so, we have plenty more who need a home, so give us a call.
If you don't find the rabbit(s) you are looking for here, please also check our linked shelter pages.

Featured Foster Rabbit(s):

AngeloAngelo - Since I've come to HRC, life has sure changed from living with chickens in a chicken coop. I'm only about 6-8 months old. I keep my cage (and litter box) very neat, but I do love to chew on my cardboard box house. I love to do happy bunny dances when I'm running around because I'm happiest out of my double-sized dog crate. Every morning I come to my door to wait for my morning treat- a banana slice! Once I'm picked up, I liked sitting in my fosterer's lap. I'm still a little nervous (my old life was REALLY hard) but with patience I can be a great companion.

Windy Windy is a lovely 5-pound bun who has made wonderful progress on her trust of people. She loves when her foster mom pets her and waits patiently for her dinner without complaining. And, she will let you pick her up briefly. She is very curious and cannot resist checking you out. Windy has been waiting a long time for her forever home. She has shown us that with a little TLC she is a friendly loveable girl. She would still do best in a home without little children. Please give us a call if you would like to meet Windy.

Coco (male) Coco (male)
Coco is a 3 year old male, chocolate brown rabbit. Coco gained some weight while in the shelter but now he is eating a healthy diet and getting lots of exercise..He is looking great!! Coco is a playful bun, he loves cardboard tubes to chew on, boxes to jump on or rest in or push around his pen. He likes his big jingle ball he can throw or push. He is happy and friendly. Coco is a very sweet boy, he has great litter box habits and he would be a nice rabbit for a first time bunny caretaker.

Alberta Alberta is an adult female English Spot rabbit. She is one of the cutest and sweetest rabbits you will meet - but she does have her feisty side. She loves attention!! She loves to be petted and will tolerate being picked up for short periods of time. Alberta is a special needs bunny. She appears to have what is called Mega-colon (or cow pile syndrome).

This is not a disease - it is a deformity of the colon which can be found in some rabbits with the English Spot coloring. It is essential that her diet be controlled and monitored to reduce the symptoms of this defect and prevent painful GI problems. Alberta is a darling little bunny and she deserves a forever home with a family that will be strict in caring for her properly! Can you give her this happy home?

Snowy & FlurrySnowy & Flurry with a plush friend
Snowy and Flurry are two small but fully-grown bunnies. Their family is moving to the UK and if they were to take them along the pair would have to endure a long flight and then a 15 day quarantine - this would cause too much stress for any rabbit and could possibly be fatal. As sad as it makes the family it is best for HRC to take them back in and find then a new loving home. They are available but still waiting for foster space.
They are a bonded pair and enjoy exploring their playing area together and grooming each other. Give them an obstacle course with cardboard tubes and boxes and they will be in rabbit heaven. Snowy is a 3 year-old dwarf, white, with beautiful black markings around his eyes. He is gentle and will come to be petted - he especially likes to be scratched behind his ears. He spends his time moving around and tossing his toys. Flurry is almost 2 years old, white with ruby eyes. She is still getting used to being petted, but the secret to her heart is to encourage her with a treat - she loves her food. Of the two bunnies, she is the adventurer and will go exploring if given the space. These lovely rabbits need lots of gentle attention, they will miss their current home and will need to adjust to a new place.

Mason Mason is a 2 year old male dwarf bunny - he is white with grey markings and sweet dark blue eyes. Mason is so adorable!! He is a sweet and friendly bunny who gets along well with cats.

Victoria Hi Everyone, my name is Victoria. I'm a 4 year old female Dutch bunny. I had a nice home but they decided to give me up because they had no time for me. I don't know why because I am very good with my litter box, I loved their attention and when they petted me. I let them pick me up if they wanted and would sit and watch TV with them. I don't mind other animals in the household and I get along well with anyone. In my new foster home they have dogs and cats, I even let one of their dogs lick me....it's kind of cool. I am very easy-going and love to run and play. I hope there is a family that will love me and give me my forever home!

AbbyAbby is a year and a half old. She is a lovely agouti bunny with big beautiful eyes. Abby tends to be shy and a bit independent.

Sky Sky is a 1 1/2 year old Female Mini Lop. She is gray with beige accents, very cute!! She is a very friendly girl. Happy & silly she loves to run, jump and explore! She would be a great family rabbit and also a great first time rabbit. She has great litter box skills! Sky was given to some childern by her original owners, then she was surrendered to the MSPCA in Springfield, MA. Come and meet Sky!! You will be glad you did.

Betty Betty is the sister of Barney and Freddy. She is also 4 months old. Like her brothers, she has the same sweet personality. All three of these little ones are used to being handled.

OrsonOrson is a small 4 month old brown & white Dutch rabbit. He has a happy personality and likes to be petted.

Sam with Peter HRC member Sam enjoys socializing the rabbits at the MSPCA (the rabbits enjoy her company too!). HRC is always looking for more volunteers to do the same!

Animal shelters have limited space for rescuing rabbits. Many rabbits face the possibility of euthanasia. Please consider fostering or adopting a house rabbit as a companion. Adopting a rescued rabbit from the HRC makes room for another shelter rabbit to be placed in HRC foster care. Call the Hopline at (413) 525-9222
(Email links at bottom of page).

We often have many more bunnies than listed so please call!

Former HRC foster bunnies (now a happily bonded pair), Sadie & Elliott play with their Busy Bunny Ball treat/pellet dispensing toy.  They act like a "tag-team" when it comes to how they get their pellets.  With every nudge and roll of the ball, pellets fall out from one of the two openings, making them work & play for their food.  A wonderful must-have for everybun!

Please visit us at one of our next event locations to purchase your Busy Bunny Ball, or click on the link below. If you buy through Busy Pet Toys, remember to state that HRC referred you and use customer/brochure # 69 .  With every referral, HRC earns a donation from Busy Pet Toys
